First there was the Maotai bubble, now there is the bust. Maotai prices fell from 2800 yuan at the peak to 900 to 1000 yuan per bottle today. Wuliangye fell from 1600 yuan down to 600 to 700 yuan per bottle. According to reports, inventory has been moving at these prices and it may signal a bottom for these spirits.
Chinese liquor companies have pretty low valuations, some have decent yields, and not a few are priced to reflect the expectations of slow or flat growth for the next couple of years.
